After a thorough collection and analysis of good practices from various capacity-building projects and similar initiatives, we are excited to announce that we are moving into the first phase of our empirical study. This phase will involve focus groups with academics and professionals from the digital innovation ecosystem in Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana, with a total of 42 participants to be engaged in this important study.
The objectives of these focus groups are threefold:
- To identify learning needs and existing knowledge gaps within African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
- To analyze the needs and challenges HEIs face in collaborating with organizations within the digital innovation ecosystem.
- To identify skill gaps between academic learning in digital innovation and the needs of the labor market.
This research has received ethics approval from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, as well as local ethical clearance from the African institutions involved. This milestone marks a crucial step in our work towards understanding and supporting the development of digital innovation capacity within African HEIs and will last until the end of the year.
